Easter Adeje Tenerife 2014


Holy Week from April 13th until April 20th 2014 in Tenerife.
Due to the fact that Tenerife is a very religious island, there will be numerous church services and events. Furthermore there will be street performances reenacting the story of Jesus Christ of the Holy Week. In this week all the colours and the happiness of Carnival will be banished and the religious island of Tenerife will calm down and will metaphorically come to silence.


Easter in Tenerife is one of the most important events for the parish of the church and will be celebrated all over the island. There will be many processions held throughout all the cities of Tenerife.

The city of La Laguna is the capital for Religion and also hosts the biggest services and events. And because it also has beautiful surroundings, which is world heritage of UNESCO, many many visitors and believers traval to La Laguna.

The most important days in the Holy Week are:

Palm Sunday, April 13th

This day is the start of the processions all over the island. People pilgrimage with blessed palm branches through different points of the island - also called "Procession de la Burrita".

Holy Thursday, April 17th

On Holy Thursday is the celebration of the Eucharist of the Last Supper.

Good Friday, April 18th

On Good Friday people remember the death of Jesus Christ. This day also highlights again the "Procession del Silencio".


Easter Day, April 20th

The day of Christ's resurrection.

The most important events of the Holy Week will take place in La Laguna, however, you can find numerous services and performances all over the island like: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico, Arona, Adeje, Los Realejos y Santiago del Teide.
